Single parenting has long been applauded for the tenacity and grit it takes to raise children while balancing life. But, quite frankly, it’s not as spectacular as the glorification it receives. If being tired mentally, physically and emotionally are all things you’d easily enjoy, then, go for it. Just don’t say you weren’t warned!
What do the experts say?
According to medicinenet.com, the disadvantages of single parenting are alarming!; these include but are not limited to:
Financial hardships

Sense of feeling overwhelmed with tasks and decision making
Unhealthy parent-child relationships
Possible educational concerns/gaps
Unpopular Opinions of a Single Mom
A. Stop telling me "Happy Father's Day"!: Every time someone tells me "You are mom and dad.", it makes me cringe. Not only am I not a man, this statement diminishes the fantastic job that involved and caring fathers are doing.
B. Fathers are needed. : The BIble says "For I have chosen him, that he may command his children and his household after him to keep the way of the Lord by doing righteousness and justice, so that the Lord may bring to Abraham what he has promised him.” (Gen. 18:19). Keeping this in mind, we must understand that fathers provide protection, security, and the much needed guidance for the functionality of a family.
C. Educated single mothers struggle just as much as uneducated single mothers.: I am a single mother of a three-year old toddler. Before having my child, I did not learn the necessary financial skills to set myself and my child up for the turbulence of single motherhood which meant that I would end up working multiple jobs just to make ends meet; the fun part is ... I'm a teacher with two masters degrees. The financial burden I placed on my daughter and I due to poor planning lead to a vicious cycle of up at 5am and home by 8/9pm. This cycle caused constant irritability for my child and me as we both were deprived from much needed rest.
